JEE Main 2027 Free Mock Tests: Official NTA Links and Practice Plan

Key takeaways

  • NTA's official mock test portal (nta.ac.in/Quiz) lets you take JEE Main past papers on the real CBT screen for free; select JEE-Main and a paper.
  • As of 7 October 2026, the JEE-Main papers on that portal are from 2016 to 2020, so use them for interface practice and questions, not to predict your score on the current pattern.
  • jeemain.nta.nic.in has official JEE Main 2026 Session 2 B.Tech question papers, the closest match to the current exam pattern.
  • NTA's National Test Abhyas app is still listed on nta.ac.in/Abhyas with Play Store and App Store links.
  • Analysing each mock for silly mistakes, concept gaps and time loss matters more than the number of mocks you take.

You can take a free JEE Main 2027 mock test on NTA's official mock test portal at nta.ac.in/Quiz, which runs past JEE Main papers on the same computer-based test (CBT) screen used in the exam. For the current pattern, the official JEE Main 2026 question papers on jeemain.nta.nic.in are the best free practice material.

This guide shows what NTA officially offers as of 7 October 2026, how the CBT screen works, a phase-wise practice plan by subject, and how to analyse a mock. JEE Main 2027 Session 1 is on 22-24 and 28-30 January 2027, as announced in NTA's official calendar (tentative).

Where can you take a free official JEE Main mock test?

NTA's official mock tests are on nta.ac.in/Quiz, listed as "Mock Test" under Test Practice on nta.ac.in. Choose JEE-Main from the exam list, pick a paper, read the instructions and start. There is no fee. NTA says these mocks are meant to familiarise students with the CBT process and are only for practice.

Here is what we found on the official NTA sites on 7 October 2026:

Are NTA mock tests based on the JEE Main 2027 pattern?

Not fully. On 7 October 2026, the JEE-Main papers on NTA's mock portal were from the 2016 to 2020 exams. The question count, marking and syllabus have changed since then, and some chapters were dropped in 2024. So use these mocks to learn the screen, not to predict your current score.

For the current pattern, use the official JEE Main 2026 papers on jeemain.nta.nic.in. In 2026, Paper 1 had 75 questions for 300 marks: 25 each in Physics, Chemistry and Maths, with 20 MCQs and 5 numerical questions per subject, and +4 for correct and -1 for wrong in both sections. NTA will confirm the 2027 pattern in the Information Bulletin.

Check every old question against the JEE Main 2027 syllabus. If a question is from a removed topic, skip it and move on.

Is the NTA Abhyas app still available?

Yes, it is still listed. NTA's page at nta.ac.in/Abhyas describes "National Test Abhyas" for engineering and medical aspirants, with mock tests and personalised reports, and links to the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. On 7 October 2026, the App Store listing was titled "NTA Abhyas AI App".

Use it as a supplement for short daily practice on your phone. For full three-hour practice, a computer is better, because the real exam is on a desktop with a mouse and an on-screen keypad. Check the current features in the app itself before relying on it.

How does the JEE Main CBT screen work?

As per NTA's "About Computer Based Test" document, you log in at your allotted computer, read the instructions, and answer with the mouse. A countdown timer at the top right shows time left, and the exam ends automatically at zero. The question palette on the right shows each question's status.

  • Save and Next: saves your answer and opens the next question.
  • Clicking a question number in the palette does not save the answer on screen. This is a common way to lose marks.
  • Mark for Review and Next: flags a question to revisit.
  • Answered and Marked for Review is evaluated. Marked for Review without an answer is not evaluated.
  • Numerical answers are entered with an on-screen keypad; the physical keyboard is disabled.
  • Rough work is done on blank sheets given at the centre, which you hand back at the end.
  • You can change answers at any time before the timer ends.

Take at least two or three mocks on NTA's portal only to get used to these buttons. By the exam, the screen should feel boring and normal.

What is a good chapter-wise practice plan for JEE Main 2027?

Work in three phases: chapter tests now, subject-wise part tests from December, and full timed mocks in January. Use the JEE Main 2027 syllabus page for the chapter list and the 100-day JEE Main 2027 study plan for weekly targets.

PhaseWhenWhat to practiseSource
1. Chapter testsOctober to November 2026After finishing each chapter, a short timed set of past JEE Main questions from that chapter only2026 official papers sorted by chapter, plus NTA portal papers for in-syllabus topics
2. Part testsDecember 2026One full subject at a time (25 questions, about one hour) to fix subject-wise timeSingle-subject sections from past papers
3. Full mocksJanuary 2027 (before 22 January)Three-hour full papers in your actual shift timing, on a computerNTA mock portal for the screen, 2026 papers for the pattern

Physics

Mix formula-based chapters with concept-heavy ones in each chapter test. Keep a one-page formula sheet per chapter and update it after every test. Numerical questions in Physics often need careful units, so practise writing units on your rough sheet. For quick chapter checks in chemistry, use our chapter-wise chemistry quiz with answers.

Chemistry

Do short daily sets: one from Physical, one from Organic and one from Inorganic. Inorganic marks come from memory and accuracy, so revise with our inorganic chemistry exceptions list and self-quiz before each Chemistry test.

Mathematics

Maths takes the most time in most mocks. In chapter tests, time yourself per question, and mark which questions you would skip in the real exam. In full mocks, decide a fixed order of subjects and stick to it.

How should you analyse a JEE Main mock test?

Spend at least as long analysing a mock as you spent taking it. List every wrong and skipped question, sort each into a concept gap, a silly mistake or a time problem, re-solve it without a timer, and fix that chapter before the next mock. Track accuracy subject by subject, not just the total.

  1. Score breakdown: write marks, attempts and accuracy for each subject.
  2. Error log: for each wrong answer, note the chapter and the reason in one line.
  3. Silly mistakes: sign errors, misread questions, wrong unit. Find the pattern and make one rule for the next mock.
  4. Time check: note questions that took over four minutes. Decide whether to skip such types next time.
  5. Negative marks: count marks lost to wrong answers. If high, attempt fewer guesses.
  6. Re-test: re-solve the wrong questions after three or four days.

Once you have a stable mock score, convert it to an estimated range with our JEE Main rank predictor, and see what that range means in our JEE Main result and rank explained. Remember that a mock percentile is only a guide; the real one depends on your shift.

What mistakes do students make with mock tests?

The biggest mistakes are taking too many mocks without analysis, judging yourself by old-pattern papers, practising only on a phone, and skipping the real shift timing. Avoid these and even ten well-analysed mocks will help more than thirty rushed ones.

  • Do not pay for "leaked" or "official" mock tests; NTA's mocks are free.
  • Do not panic over one low score. Look at the trend over three or four mocks.
  • Do not start full mocks before you have covered most chapters; start with chapter tests.
  • Do practise in the 9 AM to 12 noon or 3 PM to 6 PM slot, the 2026 shift timings, so your body is used to it.

What should you do next?

Take one JEE Main 2027 mock test on NTA's free portal this week to learn the CBT screen, then switch to chapter tests from the official 2026 papers. Keep watching jeemain.nta.nic.in, because registration has not opened as of 7 October 2026.

Frequently asked questions

Where can I take the official JEE Main 2027 mock test?

NTA's official mock test portal is at nta.ac.in/Quiz, linked as Mock Test under Test Practice on nta.ac.in. Select JEE-Main, pick a paper and start. It runs on the same type of CBT screen used in the exam. NTA has not released a separate JEE Main 2027 mock test as of 7 October 2026.

Are NTA mock tests for JEE Main free?

Yes. The mock test portal on nta.ac.in does not ask for any payment or registration fee. You select the exam and paper and begin. NTA says these mock tests are only to familiarise students with the computer-based test process. Never pay any website that claims to sell official NTA mock tests.

Are the NTA mock tests based on the latest JEE Main pattern?

Not fully. As of 7 October 2026, the JEE-Main papers on NTA's mock portal are from the 2016 to 2020 exams. The pattern and syllabus have changed since then. Use them for screen practice and good questions, and use the official 2026 question papers on jeemain.nta.nic.in for the current pattern.

Is the NTA Abhyas app still available?

As of 7 October 2026, nta.ac.in/Abhyas still has a National Test Abhyas page with links to the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. NTA describes it as a practice platform with mock tests and personalised reports for engineering and medical aspirants. Check the app listing for its current features before relying on it.

How many mock tests should I take before JEE Main 2027?

There is no official number. A sensible approach is to start with chapter tests now, move to one full mock a week from December, and take two or three a week in January. What matters most is analysing every mock and fixing the same mistake before the next one.

How do I analyse a JEE Main mock test?

After each mock, list every wrong and skipped question. Mark each as a concept gap, a calculation or reading mistake, or a time problem. Re-solve them without a timer, note the chapter, and revise that chapter before the next mock. Track subject-wise marks and accuracy, not just the total.

Does Marked for Review count in JEE Main?

As per NTA's CBT instructions, a question that is answered and marked for review is evaluated. A question that is only marked for review without an answer is not evaluated. Clicking a question number in the palette does not save the current answer, so use Save and Next.
