How are PhD scholars selected at IIT Kharagpur?

The Departmental Academic Committee (PG and Research) of each unit decides. It shortlists for a written test on overall academic performance, then shortlists for the final interview on academics plus the test. The final offer depends on all three. Tests and interviews may be online or offline.

Shortlisting criteria differ between units, so a CGPA that works in one department may not in another. You can download the test or interview letter from the portal if you are shortlisted. For general interview preparation, see our IIT PhD admission 2027 guide.
