Private engineering colleges accepting JEE Main score include JIIT Noida, Thapar Institute (TIET) Patiala, LNMIIT Jaipur, Nirma University, Manipal University Jaipur and Bennett University, which run their own JEE Main based admissions outside JoSAA. KIIT, SRM and Newton School of Technology mainly use their own tests but also give weight to JEE Main in specific ways.

Which private engineering colleges accept JEE Main score?

Private colleges use JEE Main in three ways: their own merit list based on JEE Main rank or percentile (JIIT, Thapar, LNMIIT, Nirma, Manipal Jaipur, Bennett), state counselling that uses JEE Main (AKTU colleges like NIET through UPTAC), and special routes like KIIT's JEE Main allotment or AIT Pune for defence wards.

Rules change every year. Always read the college's own 2027 admission brochure before you apply.

What JEE Main rank do you need for JIIT Noida?

JIIT runs its own JEE Main rank-based counselling and does not take part in UPTAC. According to JIIT's official blog, CSE at the Sector 62 campus closed at 92,207 in 2025, up from about 65,607 in 2023. Newer programmes such as AI and ML and cybersecurity closed beyond 3.8 lakh rank in 2025.

JIIT also fills seats through a Class 12 marks based round. For JEE Main based admission, JIIT asked for at least 60% aggregate in Class 12 (55% for SC/ST) with Physics and Mathematics, plus one more subject from its approved list.

• Campuses: Sector 62 and Sector 128 in Noida (closing ranks differ by campus).
• In 2026, JIIT held its JEE rank round and Class 12 marks round in June, while JoSAA was still running.
• JIIT sets branch-wise rank limits for JEE Main based applications each year. Check the current limit before you apply.

Private college counselling usually happens before JoSAA ends. If you might still get an NIT or IIIT, read the private college's refund and withdrawal rules before paying the seat fee.

How does Thapar (TIET) admission work with JEE Main?

Thapar fills 50% of B.Tech seats on JEE Main percentile and the other 50% on normalised Class 12 marks in Physics, Mathematics and one of Chemistry, Biology or Biotechnology. One application covers both routes, so a strong board score can make up for a modest JEE Main percentile.

Popular branches such as Computer Engineering need a high JEE Main percentile. Core branches like Civil, Mechanical and Chemical usually need less. Thapar does not publish a fixed cutoff in advance, so look at its merit lists from the previous year.

Which colleges use JEE Main percentile directly: LNMIIT, Manipal Jaipur, Bennett and Nirma?

LNMIIT Jaipur and Nirma University prepare their own merit lists from JEE Main, while Manipal University Jaipur and Bennett University accept JEE Main alongside other routes. None of them is part of JoSAA or CSAB, so you must apply on each college's own portal.

LNMIIT Jaipur

LNMIIT admits B.Tech students on the basis of JEE Main percentile through its own counselling. You need a valid JEE Main Paper 1 score and good Class 12 marks in PCM. Its CSE and AI-related programmes are competitive, while ECE and Mechanical go deeper.

Nirma University, Ahmedabad

Nirma's Institute of Technology fills its All India seats on the basis of JEE Main CRL, as stated on its official admission page. Gujarat state quota seats are filled through ACPC. Nirma's 2026 admission page showed All India seats as the largest block of its intake, making it one of the bigger JEE Main based private options.

Manipal University Jaipur (MUJ)

MUJ accepts JEE Main scores for B.Tech, alongside its own MET. Candidates with a good JEE Main percentile can apply under its merit route without relying only on MET. Check MUJ's current eligibility percentile, because it changes by year.

Bennett University, Greater Noida

Bennett selects B.Tech students on Class 12 marks or JEE Main performance. It also links scholarships to JEE Main percentile bands and Class 12 marks. This makes it a useful option if your JEE Main percentile is between 70 and 90.

Do KIIT, SRM and VIT accept JEE Main score?

VIT does not accept JEE Main; you must write VITEEE. KIIT's main route is KIITEE, but it also runs a separate B.Tech (JEE Main) allotment on its admission portal. SRM's main route is SRMJEEE; it offers direct admission to top JEE Main rankers and some JEE-linked scholarships.

• KIIT: KIITEE 2026 was held in three phases and had no application fee. A JEE Main route also exists, so check both on kiitee.kiit.ac.in.
• SRM: Direct admission is only for very high JEE Main ranks (reported as the top 1,000). For most students, SRMJEEE is the realistic route.

How do AKTU colleges like NIET use JEE Main?

NIET Greater Noida and other private colleges affiliated to AKTU fill most B.Tech seats through UPTAC counselling, which uses JEE Main rank. Reports say NIET fills about 85% of seats through UPTAC and the rest through management or NRI quota. You must register on the UPTAC portal to get the counselling seats.

What about AIT Pune, Newton School of Technology and Christ University?

AIT Pune uses JEE Main scores but only admits wards of serving or retired Army, Navy and Air Force personnel and war widows. Newton School of Technology uses its own NSAT test and interview, with JEE scorecards helping profile-based shortlisting. Christ University mainly uses its own entrance process.

Army Institute of Technology, Pune

AIT invites applications in the early months of the year for B.Tech admission based on JEE Main scores. Only eligible defence wards can apply. Reports put the B.Tech intake at about 300 seats. Keep your parent's service documents ready.

Newton School of Technology (NST)

NST offers a 4-year B.Tech in Computer Science and AI. Its official admission page lists partner universities that award the degree: Rishihood University (Delhi NCR), Ajeenkya DY Patil University (Pune), S-VYASA (Bengaluru) and St. Mary's University (Hyderabad). The process is NSAT, interview, counselling and documents. Students with strong JEE scorecards, academics or coding ratings may skip NSAT and go to the interview.

Christ University, Bengaluru

Christ's School of Engineering (Kengeri campus) admits B.Tech students mainly through its own entrance test and interview. Some reports say JEE Main or KCET scores are also considered, but we could not confirm this in an official 2026 notice. Check christuniversity.in before you rely on JEE Main for Christ.

How do fees and scholarships work at these private colleges?

Private college fees are much higher than NIT or state government college fees, and they change every year. Many colleges, including Bennett and SRM, link scholarships to JEE Main percentile or rank and to Class 12 marks. A good JEE Main score can therefore cut your fee even if it doesn't get you an NIT.

Before you compare colleges, ask each one for three things in writing:

• The full four-year tuition fee, plus hostel, mess, exam and "development" charges.
• The scholarship slab that applies to your JEE Main percentile, and the CGPA needed to keep it after the first year.
• The refund policy if you withdraw before classes start.

What documents do private colleges ask for?

Most JEE Main based private admissions ask for your JEE Main scorecard, Class 10 and 12 marksheets, ID proof, photographs and category certificates if you claim a reservation or scholarship. Some also ask for a migration certificate and medical fitness form at reporting.

Keep PDFs of all documents ready before results. Private colleges usually give short windows (a few days) to accept a seat and pay, and missing a deadline can mean losing the seat.

How do you choose the right private college with a low JEE Main rank?

Compare approvals, total four-year cost, verified placement data, faculty and location. A private college with a lower fee and honest placement numbers can be better than a big-brand college you can't afford. Always check NIRF ranking and AICTE or UGC status.

When should you apply to private colleges for 2027?

Apply between January and May 2027, alongside JEE Main. Many private colleges open applications in the winter, hold JEE-based rounds in May-June and fill seats before JoSAA ends in July. NTA has not announced JEE Main 2027 dates; based on 2025 and 2026, sessions are expected in January and April.
