Engineering Entrance Exams 2027: BITSAT, VITEEE, COMEDK, EAMCET Dates

Engineering entrance exams 2027 such as BITSAT, VITEEE, COMEDK, EAMCET (EAPCET) and MHT CET are expected to be held between April and May 2027, with registrations opening between November 2026 and February 2027. No official 2027 dates are out yet, so the actual 2026 dates below are your best planning guide.

This article gives you a one-table view of all major backup exams to JEE, then explains each one: 2026 dates, fees, 2027 expectations, and how admission works (including VIT admission). NCHM JEE is covered briefly at the end.

Why should you write engineering entrance exams other than JEE?

You should write two or three other engineering entrance exams because a single bad day in JEE Main can close many doors. BITSAT, VITEEE, COMEDK and state CETs give you separate chances at good private and state colleges. Their syllabus mostly overlaps with JEE, so extra preparation is small.

These exams also have their own counselling. That means a strong BITSAT score or a good VITEEE rank can get you a seat even if your JEE Main percentile is average. The trade-off is cost and travel. Each form costs between about Rs 1,000 and Rs 5,600, and exams cluster in April-May. Pick exams based on the colleges you would actually join and the states you are willing to move to.

What are the 2026 dates and expected 2027 dates for each exam?

In 2026, BITSAT ran on 15-17 April and 24-26 May, VITEEE from 28 April to 3 May, COMEDK on 9 May, MHT CET PCM from 11-20 April and 12-16 May, TG EAPCET engineering on 9-11 May and AP EAPCET from 12 to 20 May. All 2027 dates are expected to follow a similar April-May window.

For comparison, JEE Main 2027 session 1 is tentatively listed by NTA for 22-24 and 28-30 January 2027. Session 2 will be in April, which often clashes with these exams. Check our JEE Main 2027 exam date guide and pick exam slots that do not overlap.

Several 2026 forms had their deadlines extended, but never rely on an extension. Fill every form at least a week before the published last date, and keep a copy of the payment receipt.

When is BITSAT 2027 and how did BITSAT 2026 registration work?

BITSAT 2027 dates are not out, but expect two sessions in April and May 2027, like 2026. BITSAT 2026 registration for Session 1 opened in mid-December 2025 and closed on 16 March 2026. Session 2 registration ran from 20 April to 2 May 2026. Sessions were held on 15-17 April and 24-26 May 2026.

BITSAT is a computer-based test for B.E. admissions at BITS Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad campuses. You can write one or both sessions; your better score is used. Admission is through an iterative process based on BITSAT score, and you also need the required Class 12 marks in PCM.

Fees are as reported by Careers360 for 2026; confirm the 2027 fee on the BITS admissions website. BITSAT has negative marking, so accuracy matters as much as speed.

When is the VITEEE exam date for 2027?

The VITEEE 2027 exam date is not announced yet. VITEEE 2026 was held from 28 April to 3 May 2026, applications closed on 12 April 2026, and the result was reported on 8 May 2026. Expect VITEEE 2027 in the same late-April to early-May window.

The VIT entrance exam 2026 fee was Rs 1,350 (including GST) for Indian candidates and USD 90 for international centres. Per the official site, the 2026 paper had 125 multiple-choice questions in 2 hours 30 minutes, with +4 for a correct answer and -1 for a wrong answer. Check the 2027 pattern carefully, as it can change.

How does VIT admission work?

VIT admission to B.Tech is based on your VITEEE rank, followed by online counselling. You choose among four campuses: VIT Vellore, VIT Chennai, VIT-AP and VIT Bhopal, and a fee category. Counselling runs in phases, each open to a rank range.

• Register for counselling on viteee.vit.ac.in after the result.
• Fill campus and branch choices in your phase.
• Accept the allotted seat and pay the required fee within the deadline.
• VIT allows a candidate to write VITEEE only once in a given year.

What is the COMEDK exam date for 2027?

COMEDK UGET 2027 has no official date yet. In 2026, COMEDK UGET was held on 9 May 2026 in a single session, applications ran from 3 February to 23 March 2026 (after an extension), and results were published on 29 May 2026. Expect the 2027 exam around May.

COMEDK is for admission to around 150 private engineering colleges in Karnataka, with about 20,000 seats, as stated by COMEDK. The 2026 paper had 180 questions (60 each in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics), one mark each, with no negative marking, in English only.

Since COMEDK has no negative marking, attempt every question. It is a good backup if you are open to studying in Bengaluru or other Karnataka cities.

When is EAMCET 2027 exam date for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh?

EAMCET, now officially called EAPCET, has no 2027 dates yet. In 2026, TG EAPCET engineering was held on 9, 10 and 11 May, and AP EAPCET ran from 12 to 20 May. Both are expected in May 2027. These exams are mainly for students eligible for Telangana and Andhra Pradesh seats.

TG EAPCET 2026 was conducted by JNTU Hyderabad for the Telangana Council of Higher Education. As reported, 2,10,766 candidates registered for the engineering stream, 1,97,242 appeared and 1,44,704 qualified. The result came out in May 2026.

AP EAPCET 2026 was conducted by JNTU Kakinada for APSCHE. Its result was declared much later than the usual early-June window, around the end of June/start of July 2026 as reported. Keep this delay in mind if you plan to wait for AP counselling.

If you are not from these states, check the local and non-local seat rules before applying. For most outside students, JEE Main-based state counselling or private universities are more useful.

Is MHT CET 2027 useful for engineering admission?

Yes, MHT CET is the main exam for engineering seats in Maharashtra's government, aided and private colleges. In 2026 the PCM group had two attempts: 11 to 20 April and 12 to 16 May. MHT CET 2027 dates are not out, but expect a similar April-May schedule.

Maharashtra CAP counselling also admits students through JEE Main percentile for some seats, including All India seats. So if you are aiming for Pune or Mumbai colleges, write MHT CET and also keep your JEE Main score. Check the official CET Cell website for the 2027 notification.

How does NCHM JEE fit in?

NCHM JEE is not an engineering exam. It is the NTA-run entrance for the B.Sc in Hospitality and Hotel Administration at IHMs. In 2026 it was held on 25 April and the result came out on 22 May. Applications ran from 26 December 2025 to 1 April 2026.

Some PCM students keep it as a plan C if they are open to a hospitality career. If you are sure about engineering, skip it and focus your time on JEE and one or two engineering backups.

How do BITSAT, VITEEE and COMEDK compare?

BITSAT is the toughest of the three and leads to BITS campuses; VITEEE is moderate and leads to four VIT campuses; COMEDK is easier in style, has no negative marking and covers about 150 Karnataka colleges. All three are computer-based and follow a Class 11-12 PCM syllabus close to JEE Main.

Your JEE Main preparation covers most of what these exams test. The main differences are speed and marking. BITSAT rewards quick, accurate solving; COMEDK rewards attempting everything; VITEEE sits in between.

A practical tip: take one full mock of each exam you plan to write about a month before the date. It shows you how the time pressure feels and whether guessing helps or hurts. Also check the exact syllabus PDF for each exam, because a few chapters differ from JEE Main and from each other.

Which backup exams should you choose for 2027?

Choose backups based on where you would really study. If you want a top private institute, BITSAT and VITEEE are the main picks. If you are open to Karnataka, add COMEDK. If you are from Maharashtra, Telangana or Andhra Pradesh, your state CET matters more than any private exam.

• Strong JEE preparation, want top private: BITSAT plus VITEEE.
• Moderate preparation, flexible on location: VITEEE plus COMEDK, and JEE Main-based private universities.
• From Maharashtra: MHT CET plus JEE Main (for CAP and JoSAA).
• From Telangana or Andhra Pradesh: TG or AP EAPCET plus JEE Main.

Don't write too many exams. Three or four good attempts are better than seven tired ones.

• October-November 2026: Register for JEE Main 2027 session 1 when NTA opens the form.
• November 2026-January 2027: Watch for VITEEE, BITSAT and NCHM JEE applications.
• February-March 2027: Apply for COMEDK, MHT CET and your state CET.
• April-May 2027: Book exam slots so that they do not clash with JEE Main session 2 or JEE Advanced.
