UCEED 2027 Registration Open: Last Date 31 October, Exam 17 January

UCEED 2027 registration is open. IIT Bombay launched the official UCEED 2027 website and information brochure on 1 October 2026, and you can apply with the regular fee until 31 October 2026; the exam is on Sunday, 17 January 2027, from 9 am to 12 noon.

Status as of 9 October 2026: registration is live on uceed.iitb.ac.in. The late-fee window runs from 1 November to 6 November 2026, 5 pm.

Is UCEED 2027 registration open?

Yes. UCEED 2027 registration opened on 1 October 2026 on the official portal linked from uceed.iitb.ac.in. The last date with the regular fee is 31 October 2026. If you miss it, you can still apply with a late fee until 5 pm on 6 November 2026. After that, the form closes.

The official announcement, dated 1 October 2026, says the UCEED 2027 brochure and website have been launched. The brochure adds that any change to these dates will be notified only on the official website. Last year the regular deadline was extended by a few days, but there is no extension for 2027, so plan to finish well before 31 October.

Only uceed.iitb.ac.in and uceed@iitb.ac.in are official. IIT Bombay has repeatedly warned candidates about fraudsters calling about ranks, seats and payments. Never pay anyone outside the official portal.

What are the UCEED 2027 important dates?

The full UCEED 2027 calendar is now official. Registration runs from 1 October to 31 October 2026 (regular fee) and to 6 November 2026 (late fee). The exam is on 17 January 2027, the draft answer key on 19 January, and the result on 6 March 2027.

How to apply for UCEED 2027?

You apply only online, through the registration portal on uceed.iitb.ac.in. First create a login, then fill in your details, upload documents, choose three exam cities and pay the fee. Incomplete forms are rejected, so check every upload before you submit.

1. Go to uceed.iitb.ac.in and open the UCEED 2027 candidate portal.
2. Register with your e-mail and mobile number and create a login and password.
3. Fill in personal, category, nationality and Class 12 details exactly as on your documents.
4. Upload your photo and signature (JPEG) and certificates (PDF) as listed below.
5. Select three exam cities in order of preference. City changes are not allowed once registration is complete.
6. Pay the fee online and download a copy of the submitted form for your records.

The official 2027 brochure lists these documents for upload:

• Photo: a recent colour photo (within six months), full frontal face covering 70-80% of the frame, .jpg only.
• Signature: a clear full signature on white paper, .jpg only.
• Proof of age: Class 10 certificate, passport or birth certificate, .pdf only.
• Class 12 proof: your certificate if you appeared in 2026; if you appear in 2027, a certificate from your Principal or board official in the Appendix 1 format.
• Category or PwD certificate: OBC-NCL, EWS, SC, ST certificate or UDID card, in the Central Government formats given in the appendices.
• Name change: a gazette notification if your name differs from your Class 12 certificate.

What is the UCEED 2027 application fee?

The official UCEED 2027 fee is Rs 2,000 for Indian female candidates (all categories) and for SC, ST and PwD candidates, and Rs 4,000 for all other Indian candidates. After 31 October 2026, a Rs 500 late fee is added. Bank or service charges are extra, and the fee is neither refundable nor transferable.

The rupee amounts for foreign nationals use the brochure's exchange rate of Rs 96 per US dollar on 1 October 2026. The fees are the same as in 2026.

Who is eligible for UCEED 2027?

You must meet all three official criteria at once: an age limit, a maximum of two attempts in consecutive years, and first appearance in Class 12 in 2026 or 2027. Students from Science, Commerce and Arts and Humanities can all write the exam.

The exception: if your Class 12 board declared its 2024-25 results on or after 30 September 2025, you may still be eligible even though you appeared in 2025. If your board declared results before that date but your own result was withheld, you are not eligible. The UCEED score is valid for one year only.

Which institutes can you join with a UCEED rank?

Seven institutes admit B.Des students through IIT Bombay's joint process: IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Indore, IIT Roorkee and IIITDM Jabalpur. Stream rules differ. All-stream students can apply only to IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Hyderabad and IIT Indore.

To apply for admission, you must also have passed Class 12 in 2026 or 2027, with proof reaching the institute by 30 September 2027.

Beyond these seven, many "result-sharing" institutes used UCEED 2026 scores through their own admission process, including DTU, IIIT Delhi, BITS Design School, Manipal, KIIT and several private universities. Each sets its own form, fees and cut-offs.

What is the UCEED 2027 exam pattern?

UCEED 2027 is a single 3-hour, 300-mark paper in English, with two compulsory parts. Part A (200 marks, 2 hours) is computer-based. Part B (100 marks, 1 hour) shows questions on screen, but you draw and write answers in a booklet. The structure in the 2027 brochure is the same as in 2026.

Part A tests visualisation and spatial reasoning, observation and design sensitivity, practical and scientific knowledge, environment and society, analytical reasoning, language and creativity. Part B checks drawing with proportion, perspective and shading, and your ability to respond to a design problem. Part B is evaluated only for candidates who clear the Part A shortlisting.

For a sense of difficulty: IIT Bombay reported the Part A mean as 70.86 out of 200 in UCEED 2026, with a standard deviation of 25.77. That is last year's figure, not a 2027 cut-off.

UCEED 2027 will be held in 30 cities, all in India, including Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, Lucknow, Patna, Jaipur, Bhopal, Guwahati and Noida. You must choose three in order of preference.

Should a JEE aspirant also take UCEED 2027?

Take UCEED only if you genuinely enjoy drawing, observation and problem solving, not just as an IIT backup. It is a separate skill test with very few seats: 245 across seven institutes in 2026-27. The exam on 17 January comes just before JEE Main Session 1, which NTA's calendar tentatively starts on 22 January, so the dates themselves do not clash.

Think of it this way. JEE Main opens NITs, IIITs and many state and private colleges, which our pillar guide on colleges for a low JEE Main rank lists by rank band. UCEED opens a small set of IIT and top design seats with a completely different syllabus. Doing both means about two hours of sketching practice a week on top of JEE study.

How is CEED 2027 different?

CEED is IIT Bombay's postgraduate design entrance for M.Des and PhD programmes, not for Class 12 students. CEED 2027 registration is also open now, with the same deadlines (31 October regular, 6 November late), and the exam is on the same morning, 17 January 2027. Final Word: what should you do next for UCEED 2027?

UCEED 2027 registration is open and every key date is now official. The regular-fee deadline is 31 October 2026, so finish your form this month and avoid the late fee. Then shift your focus to sketching practice for 17 January 2027.

1. Check your date of birth and Class 12 year against the official 2027 eligibility table above.
2. Scan your photo, signature, age proof, Class 12 proof and category or PwD certificate in the required formats.
3. Register on uceed.iitb.ac.in before 31 October 2026 and pay Rs 2,000 or Rs 4,000 as applicable.
4. Pick three exam cities you can reach easily on a Sunday morning.
5. Download the admit card from 1 January 2027 and report errors by 8 January.
