  • NTA has marked all calendar dates as tentative; the final schedule will come in the JEE Main 2027 Information Bulletin.
  • As of 9 October 2026, NTA has issued no JEE Main 2027 registration notice; registration dates, fees, Session 2 dates and the bulletin are pending. Last year the Session 1 form opened on 31 October 2025.
  • From 9 October 2026, you have 105 days until the first exam day (22 January 2027), so fix Aadhaar and documents this week.

The JEE Main 2027 Session 1 dates are announced in NTA's official calendar (tentative). The National Testing Agency (NTA) has listed the January exam on 22, 23, 24, 28, 29 and 30 January 2027, with 31 January 2027 kept as a buffer day.

Status as of 9 October 2026: registration has not opened. We re-checked jeemain.nta.nic.in today and it still lists only JEE Main 2026 notices; nta.ac.in's latest news (up to 8 October) has no JEE Main 2027 notice. There is no 2027 application link yet.

What NTA has not released yet is the registration schedule, the fee and the information bulletin. Here is exactly what the official notice says, what is still pending, and what you should do this week.

What exactly did NTA announce for JEE Main 2027?

NTA's "Examination Calendar, December 2026 Cycle onwards", published in mid-September 2026, lists JEE (Main) Session 1 (January) on 22 to 24 and 28 to 30 January 2027, with 31 January 2027 as a buffer date. The calendar shows it as a six-day exam. Nothing else about JEE Main 2027 is in this notice.

The calendar is a one-page table of all NTA exams from December 2026 to March 2027. It also covers UGC NET (December cycle), CUET (PG) 2027, CMAT, NIFT and some school entrance tests. For engineering aspirants, this is the only line that matters right now.

At the bottom, NTA has added a clear note: the dates are tentative and may change owing to administrative, academic, statutory, logistical or other unforeseen circumstances. So January 2027 is your target, but the day-wise and shift-wise schedule will come only later. We are tracking the CBSE date sheet 2027 and possible clashes separately.

How many days are left for JEE Main 2027 Session 1?

From 9 October 2026, there are 105 days to the first exam day, 22 January 2027. Registration is expected much earlier, around late October or November 2026, so the real deadline you face first is the application form, not the exam.

The table below mixes official dates with expected dates. The expected ones are based only on what NTA did for JEE Main 2026, so treat them as estimates.

What is still pending from NTA?

NTA has not yet released the JEE Main 2027 Information Bulletin, the registration dates, the fee, the syllabus for 2027, the list of exam cities, or any Session 2 dates. All of these come in the bulletin and a public notice on jeemain.nta.nic.in when the form opens. Until the form opens, use our JEE Main 2027 document-readiness checklist.

Here is how last year's sequence went, which gives a fair idea of what to watch for:

  • 29 September 2025: NTA issued an advisory asking aspirants to update Aadhaar, UDID card and category certificates before applying.
  • 31 October 2025: Public notice inviting Session 1 applications, with the form open until 27 November 2025 (9:00 PM) and fee payment until 11:50 PM.
  • 20 November 2025: Notice announcing a one-time correction window on 1 and 2 December 2025.
  • Early January 2026: Advance city intimation, followed by admit cards a few days before each exam date.

If NTA follows a similar rhythm, expect a pre-registration advisory soon and the form around the end of October or in November. But this is a pattern, not a promise.

Will JEE Main 2027 registration start soon?

Most likely within the next few weeks, but no date is official yet. In the last two cycles, Session 1 registration opened on 28 October 2024 and 31 October 2025, both about three months before the January exam. The January 2027 dates suggest a similar timeline.

Do not trust "registration link" messages on WhatsApp or Telegram. The form is filled only on jeemain.nta.nic.in. In 2026, NTA said a candidate can submit only one application, and filling more than one form was treated as unfair means. That rule is almost certain to continue.

Read our checklist of common JEE Main registration mistakes before the form opens, and keep our JEE Main eligibility and 75% criteria guide handy to confirm your Class 12 year is allowed.

How is the 2027 schedule different from 2026?

The January 2027 window has six listed exam days (22 to 24 and 28 to 30 January) plus a buffer day. In January 2026, Paper 1 was held on 21, 22, 23, 24 and 28 January and Paper 2 on 29 January. The split between Paper 1 and Paper 2 for 2027 is not yet known.

The rest of the exam is expected to stay the same unless the bulletin says otherwise. In 2026, Paper 1 had 75 questions for 300 marks, 25 per subject, with negative marking in both the MCQ and numerical sections. Morning and afternoon shifts ran from 9 AM to 12 noon and 3 PM to 6 PM.

What should you do this week?

Use the gap before registration to fix documents, not to wait. Most form problems come from an Aadhaar that does not match the Class 10 certificate, a poor photo, or a wrong category certificate. Each of these takes days or weeks to fix, so start now.

  1. Match Aadhaar with Class 10: NTA's 2025 advisory asked for Aadhaar with the correct name, date of birth as per the Class 10 certificate, latest photo, address and father's name.
  2. Prepare scans: In 2026, the photo had to be colour, with 80% face visible including ears, on a white background, in JPG between 10 kb and 200 kb. Signature was 10 kb to 100 kb and the Class 10 certificate a PDF of 50 kb to 300 kb.
  3. Check category papers: EWS and OBC-NCL certificates need to be current. At JoSAA 2026 counselling, these had to be issued on or after 1 April 2026 or be online-verifiable and valid, so plan a fresh certificate for 2027 counselling.
  4. Use your own mobile and email: NTA sends all updates there, and these fields could not be changed in the 2026 correction window.
  5. Shortlist exam cities: You could choose up to four cities, only in the states of your present or permanent address.
  6. Take stock of preparation: Take one full mock and use our JEE Main rank predictor to see where your current score stands.

What comes after the January exam?

If NTA follows the 2026 pattern, the Session 1 result should come around mid-February 2027, Session 2 will be in April, and the final ranks around 20 April. Your better NTA score of the two sessions is used for the rank. See how scores turn into ranks in our JEE Main percentile vs rank guide.

Even a modest percentile opens real options through JoSAA, state counselling and private colleges. Our pillar guide on colleges for low JEE Main rank maps them by rank band, and the NITs and IIITs for low JEE Main rank page shows real closing ranks.

Frequently asked questions

What are the JEE Main 2027 Session 1 dates?

According to NTA's examination calendar, JEE Main 2027 Session 1 will be held on 22, 23, 24, 28, 29 and 30 January 2027. NTA has kept 31 January 2027 as a buffer day. The calendar says all dates are tentative and may change, so confirm them in the official information bulletin when it is released on jeemain.nta.nic.in.

Has JEE Main 2027 registration started?

No, not as of 9 October 2026. jeemain.nta.nic.in and nta.ac.in show no 2027 registration notice; NTA has only released the exam dates in its calendar. The registration window will be announced in a public notice along with the information bulletin. Last year, the Session 1 form opened on 31 October 2025, so a late October or November 2026 start is likely.

When will JEE Main 2027 Session 2 be held?

NTA has not announced Session 2 dates yet. The calendar released in September 2026 covers exams only up to March 2027. Going by the last two years, when Session 2 was held in early April, the April 2027 session is expected in the first half of April. Treat this as an estimate until NTA confirms it.

Are the JEE Main 2027 exam dates final?

Not fully. NTA's calendar carries a note that the dates are tentative and may change for administrative, academic, statutory, logistical or other reasons. In practice NTA has usually stuck close to its calendar dates, but the final dates, shifts and cities will be confirmed only in the bulletin and admit card.

What should I do before JEE Main 2027 registration opens?

Update your Aadhaar so that your name and date of birth match your Class 10 certificate and the photo is recent. Keep a colour passport photo on a white background, a clear signature scan and a Class 10 certificate PDF ready. Check that your category certificate is valid and decide your four exam cities early.

Where will the official JEE Main 2027 notice be released?

All official notices will be released on jeemain.nta.nic.in and nta.ac.in. The exam calendar was published on nta.ac.in. Do not trust registration links shared on WhatsApp or Telegram groups, and never pay a fee or share your password on any other website.
