Is CEED 2027 registration open?
Yes. CEED 2027 registration opened on 1 October 2026 on the official website, ceed.iitb.ac.in. You can apply with the regular fee until 31 October 2026. From 1 November to 5 pm on 6 November 2026, you can still apply by paying a Rs 500 late fee. After that, the form closes.
The registration portal is linked from the CEED 2027 home page. Last year the regular deadline was extended by a few days, but no extension has been announced for 2027. Finish your form early in October so that a slow upload or payment failure does not push you into the late window.
Use only ceed.iitb.ac.in and ceed@iitb.ac.in. In April 2026, IIT Bombay said it had not shared candidate data with advertising agencies after many applicants got calls from colleges. Never pay anyone outside the official portal.

What is the CEED 2027 exam pattern?
CEED 2027 is a 3-hour exam with two compulsory parts. Part A (9-10 am, 150 marks) is answered on a computer. Part B (10 am-12 noon, 100 marks) shows questions on screen, but you draw and write answers in a booklet. Part A decides who is shortlisted; Part B carries more weight in the final score.
| Section (CEED 2027) | Questions | Marking | Marks |
|---|---|---|---|
| Part A: Numerical Answer Type (NAT) | 8 | +4, no negative | 32 |
| Part A: Multiple Select (MSQ) | 10 | +4 with partial marks, -1 wrong | 40 |
| Part A: Multiple Choice (MCQ) | 26 | +3, -0.5 wrong | 78 |
| Part B: Sketching, creativity, form sensitivity, visual sensitivity, problem identification | 5 (one each) | 20 each, partial marks, no negative | 100 |
The final score is 0.25 x Part A marks + 0.75 x Part B marks. Part B is checked only for candidates who clear the Part A cut-off.
The Part A cut-off for general candidates is the mean plus half the standard deviation of all Part A scores. OBC-NCL and EWS candidates need 0.9 times that, and SC, ST and PwD candidates 0.5 times. For reference only, IIT Bombay reported a CEED 2026 Part A mean of 39.35 and standard deviation of 16.89, which by our calculation put the 2026 general cut-off near 47.8 out of 150. The 2027 cut-off will be announced on 4 February 2027.

The CEED 2027 brochure lists M.Des programmes at eleven institutes: IISc Bangalore, IIT Bombay, IIT Delhi, IIT Gandhinagar, IIT Guwahati, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Jodhpur, IIT Kanpur, IIT Roorkee, IIITDM Jabalpur and IIITDM Kancheepuram, plus PhD programmes at several IITs and design schools.

Qualifying CEED does not guarantee a seat. You apply to each institute separately after the result, and many hold a studio test or interview. The CEED 2027 score is valid for one year from the result date.

Should a B.Tech student take CEED 2027?
Yes, if you are drawn to product, interaction, UX or mobility design and can practise sketching seriously. Engineering graduates are fully eligible. But CEED rewards visual thinking and drawing, not engineering maths, so plan regular sketching practice from now to January.
If your goal is an M.Tech or a technical PSU job, GATE is the better route. See our GATE 2027 exam dates and registration and the IIT M.Tech admission 2027 guide. For design research, our IIT PhD admission 2027 guide explains how PhD windows work.
Still in school or planning a B.Tech first? Start with our list of colleges for a low JEE Main rank. A good B.Tech degree keeps both CEED and GATE open for later.
