What is JMP and which programmes does IIT Kharagpur offer?

JMP is the Joint M.Tech./MCP-Ph.D. Programme, run by IIT Kharagpur's GATE-JAM office for GATE-based master's admission. Its 2026 cut-off list has 57 specialisation codes across departments, centres and schools. Each code is selected either on GATE score alone ("Direct") or on GATE score plus an interview.

Specialisation (code)GATE paper(s), mainSeats 2026-27Selection

"Major" and "minor" papers have separate seats and separate cut-offs. Specialisations shown on the portal depend on your degree, discipline and GATE paper, so a missing choice means your combination is not eligible.

Who is eligible for IIT Kharagpur M.Tech?

  • IIT graduates: IIT B.Tech students with CGPA 8.00 or more can be admitted without GATE through a formal process.
